Ultimate Checklist for Renovating your House in Dubai

Planning to refurbish a house in Dubai and don’t know where to start? We are here to help. House renovation can be really stressful and daunting and if you do not have a checklist on hand, it’s very easy to go off track. Before you know it, you are out of budget, and a lot of things that you need to get done don’t get done either. In this article, we have managed to present a comprehensive (but not exhaustive) checklist that you can follow to keep track of everything while you remodel your house.

Planning to refurbish a house in Dubai

Start with roaming around the house, thoroughly checking every room to understand what kind of changes do you want to make and what absolutely needs to be fixed. You may want to follow the following checklist to do so:

1. Checklist for Kitchen:

Start with the kitchen. Keep in mind that this place should have every element of practicality and comfortable functioning besides looking aesthetically pleasing.

● A large budget can enable you to change your kitchen tops and cabinets altogether. But, if you are a little tight on budget or are happy with your current cabinets, you may want to change the cabinet and drawer handles. Also,Install new electric sockets. After all, one cannot have too many sockets in their kitchen now, can they?

● Building a kitchen-raised bar with stools can save you a lot of space that a kitchen dining table can take. It can also be used as a regular countertop when you are not dining on it.

● Check the walls to see if they can do with a change of color. Lighter colors give the illusion of a larger kitchen. Also if you have marble flooring, change it with tiles to give the flooring a fresh look as well as to make the cleaning a little bit easier.

2. Checklist for Bathrooms:

● Replace the pipes that have become old or are broken. Get a professional to clean out your sewage system and gutters.

● Change bathroom fixtures, bathtub, or toilet.

● Fix the ventilation or install a ventilation system if you don’t already have it.

● Install cabinets for storing toilet and bath supplies

3. Checklist for Outside Space and Exterior:

● Check the roof to see if any repairs are needed. List them down.

● Check to see if there is a need to repaint the outer walls.

● Do a complete do-over of the garden. Get new plants, refurbish your patio.

4. Checklist for Bedrooms/Living Room:

● Re-paint the walls. If you had neutral colors before, go for bold this time. This will put life into the bedrooms and living room.

● Get new furniture (or replace some of it if your budget doesn’t allow for a top-to-bottom up-gradation). You can also just change the cushions, the sofa cover or buy some new throws if you do not want to buy any new furniture.

● Invest in a new TV (or a home cinema if you have a higher budget). Change the curtains, and mantelpieces if you have a fireplace.

● Move the furniture around to let more light in. Upgrade your coffee table or put on some coffee table books on the existing one.

5. Water, Plumbing, and Electrical Works Checklist:

This may very well be the most important checklist and something that you do not want to miss anything about. Up-to-date plumbing and electrical systems can make a world of a difference.

● If your apartment/house is an old property, replace the pipes and electrical units. Copper pipes work better and longer than lead or plastic pipes.

● If any of the electrical sockets or units are not working properly, get them fixed. Install new ones if there is any need.

● Install new lights and upgrade light and dimmer switches.

● Get the pipes cleaned (if you are not replacing them altogether). They could be clogging showers and toilets.

● Check the wirings to see if they need replacement.
